Senior Accountant and Financial Reporting Analyst, Horsham - $60K

POSITION TITLE:    Senior Accountant and Financial Reporting Analyst                                                

DEPARTMENT:        Finance – Financial Reporting                                                          

SUPERVISOR:           Financial Reporting Director                        

 

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

To perform daily and month-end accounting and financial reporting duties supporting Financial Reporting Department.  Major duties include accounting, internal and external financial reporting, balance sheet account reconciliation, financial analysis, and Sarbanes Oxley support.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

Major Accountabilities                                                                      

·         Perform daily and month-end accounting and financial reporting duties.

·         Support Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Financial Reporting requirements including

·         Audited financial statements

·         Quarterly financial statement reviews

·         State compliance reports

·         Industry surveys and agency reporting

·         Reconcile General Ledger accounts.  Research and resolve open items on a timely basis.

·         Support External Audit with Quarterly and Annual audit and review procedures.

·         Assist with Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and self-assessment testing.

·         Collaborate and support Financial Reporting, Operational Accounting and Finance, External and Internal Audit, and Divisional Finance.

·         Participate in accounting projects, as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (Desired):

1.       Bachelors Degree in Accounting with 4 – 6 years of hands on experience working in an Accounting or Financial Reporting Department.  CPA designation is preferred, but not required.

2.       Effective organizational and decision making skills.  Ability to multi-task.

3.       Ability to work accurately and independently in a team environment under tight reporting deadlines.

4.       Ability to build strong business relationships within and across organizational functions.

5.       Strong communication skills - verbal and written.

6.       Strong computer skills – (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 

 

Candidate should possess working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles applicable to U.S. financial services companies – (investments, derivatives, hedging activities, servicing of financial assets, cash flows).  Accounting and financial reporting experience with Hyperion®, PeopleSoft®, Cognos®, BusinessObjects™, and Adobe Acrobat® would also be desirable.
