POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the general accounting function of the company and daily accounting activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead in the management of the general ledger, including preparation of journal entries, account analysis, reconciliations and controls.
· Prepares monthly financial statements, reports, analysis and presentations.
· Prepares SEC reports and filings, including 10-K, 10-Q, Forms 3, 4 & 5.
· Manages external auditor for the quarterly reviews and annual audits, including preparing financial statements & analysis and providing explanations for variances.
· Partners with operational management to support/understand/record operational activity.
· Documents and tests the company’s internal controls and assists external auditors in their annual Sarbanes-Oxley audit.
· Recommends/develops/implements new procedures for accounting department.
· Partners with accounts payable to ensure expenses and accruals are recorded properly and charged to appropriate accounts.
· Assists with preparing the company’s financial planning & forecasting. Liaison with management of certain areas of the company during the planning process.
· Maintains equipment lease line of credit and related amortization schedule (reimbursement for quarterly capital expenditures).
· Performs bank reconciliations monthly, verifies all deposits, addresses reconciling items and serves as the primary liaison with our banking institutions.
· Performs general tax compliance, including review of Federal and State tax returns prepared by external accountants.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance required.
· CPA, CMA and/or MBA preferred.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Ideal candidate would have 2-5 years experience at a public biotech/pharmaceutical company and/or 2-5 years of Big 4 public accounting experience. SEC reporting experience preferred.
