Chief Financial Officer

Philadelphia-area based organization of foreign manufacturer responsible for   

    sales, marketing, distribution and general business activities

Customer base primarily retail

Market encompasses North America

Current annual revenues approximately $40 million

Reports to Chief Executive Officer of Philadelphia-based organization

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manage all finance, accounting, logistics and IT functions

Preparation of monthly financial reports including income statements, balance sheets,

    statements of cash flows all in accordance with generally accepted accounting

    principles. Preparation of other reports necessary to understand and control status

    of  business activities and results.

Preparation of annual operating plans and budgets

Preparation of periodic forecasts as required

Determine capital required to support actual and forecasted business activities. Identify

    and recommend appropriate sources and nature of such funding.

Preparation of reports comparing current operating results to planned results and analysis

    of meaningful variations from plan for both revenues and costs and underlying reasons

     therefore

Oversee maintenance of appropriate employee records and administration and

    compliance with employee benefit plans

Partner with CEO to insure that business activities are managed in accordance with

    established policies and procedures. Recommend and implement additional control 

    procedures as required to better manage the business as needs are identified.

Identify areas of potential liability and coordinate with appropriate resources means

    to avoid or mitigate such liability

Oversee billings to customers to insure accurate and timely preparation of invoices in

    strict accordance with contract terms

Responsible for general receivables management to insure timely receipt of  payments

   from customers in accordance with contract terms

Development and preparation of  periodic (weekly?) reports of sales activity and status

    of outstanding receivables including agings and enumeration of discounts and other

    shortages in customer payments

Oversee product inventory at US warehouse locations including shipments from overseas

    sources, timely shipments to customers and periodic (weekly?) reporting of status and

    composition of product inventory on hand by warehouse location

 Oversee and manage other accounting functions including payroll and accounts payable

    to insure that expenditures are being made for only properly authorized costs in

    accordance with established policies and procedures

Oversee development and preparation of data required to prepare income tax returns

Manage tax audits in conjunction with outside professionals

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in accounting or finance

MBA preferred but not essential

CPA preferred

Minimum 10 to 15 years broad-based company level experience in controllers position

Business experience with retail customer base preferred

Working knowledge of accounting computer systems

Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Excellent analytical and organizational skills

Excellent interpersonal skills
