Summary:
The Senior Corporate Cost Accountant is primarily responsible for analyzing and summarizing financial information received from manufacturing plant controllers and acting as a liaison between plant finance teams and Corporate Finance for finance-related matters. The Senior Corporate Cost Accountant will also assist the Group Controller of Manufacturing in various capacities and prepare financial analyses and present such information to senior management.
This position requires excellent planning, management and communication skills and regular interaction with designated local site finance and management teams. The individual must be able to travel periodically (estimated 10%-15% travel per year). It also requires the individual to strong accounting, reporting and general business skills in specific areas, particularly in cost accounting.
This individual must exercise sound judgment within broadly defined practices and policies and demonstrate an ability to design and implement effective and efficient processes, procedures and internal controls. This individual should also demonstrate a capacity for obtaining results from finance and non-finance departments in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Analyze and summarize designated manufacturing financial information and act as a liaison between plant finance teams and Corporate Finance for all finance-related and staffing matters
· As it relates to plant finance teams:
o Develop and demonstrate technical expertise in accounting, reporting and business matters and practices specific to those plants, including, but not limited to cost accounting, reporting and accounting for manufacturing variances, restructuring activities, and intercompany accounting
o Review monthly financial results and related disclosure schedules with plant controllers and local plant management prior to submission to Corporate Finance
o Assist the Director of Consolidations in resolving financial questions or issues related to costs of goods sold as reported in the global consolidation
o Review financial information submitted for quarterly plant meetings
o Monitor the design and effectiveness and test local internal controls and notify Corporate Finance of any changes in internal controls
o Review and understand local budgets
· Prepare various financial analyses for senior management
· Assist Director of Taxation in tax accounting, planning and compliance matters related to manufacturing plants
· Consolidate site level capital expenditure information for budgets and calculate global depreciation expense forecasts
Education and Experience:
· Education:
o An undergraduate degree in Accounting is required
o A CPA and/or MBA is preferred, but not required
Type and Number Years of Experience:
· Minimum of 3-5 years experience in financial reporting positions, preferably at manufacturing plants of publicly traded companies.
· Good planning, communication and managerial skills are required.
· Strong computer and Excel skills are required.
· The ability to multi-task in a fast paced accounting environment and perform functions such as the creation and maintenance of complex spreadsheets, account analysis and reconciliation.
· Experience in designing, implementing and/or ensuring compliance with good internal controls.
· This individual must be highly detail oriented and skilled with a PC and software packages.
