Founded over 150 years ago, Our Client is a worldwide distributor of scientific equipment, supplies, chemicals and furniture, servicing the industrial, government, life science, education, electronics and pharmaceutical markets worldwide.

 

The role of the North America Accounting Compliance Manager will be primarily center on assuring financial accounting and reporting compliance with internal control policies and standards as well as U.S. GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley for North America and Headquarter operations.

 

This is a great spot for someone out of public accounting with good SOX experience who is interested in moving away from audit and toward, one day, a Financial Controller’s positions.  This is a very technical position with a great deal of visibility in this multi-billion dollar international company. This position reports to the Controller.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

·        Design, implementation, documentation and management of key accounting and finance internal controls.

·        Management of monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation monitoring to ensure proper documentation and necessary adjustments are identified. 

  • Manage and coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audit of accounts and internal controls for North America and Global Headquarter operations with external auditors (KPMG). 
  • Manage and coordinate with the Internal Audit group for North America accounting and finance related internal audits from an internal control perspective.
  • Journal entry policy compliance management.
  • Financial accounting systems change management and period maintenance, inclusive of proper documentation.  Verification of chart of accounts and Financial Statement Report Generation integrity as well as Financial Statement Report Generation maintenance / development.
  • Finance data systems manager / IT liaison
  • Financial accounting and reporting management of Puerto Rico General Lab Distribution operations and Science Education Division.
  • Accounting support guidance, management of capital approval process, and ad-hoc analyses and requests, including special projects (financial and economic in nature).

 

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance is a must
  • 5 years related experience
  • CPA or similar professional certification is preferred
  • Conceptual process design and implementation skills are required as this position will involve constant re-evaluation of the internal control environment within the financial accounting and reporting process as the business environment changes
  • Proven analytical skills are essential
  • Extensive knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Standards and the ability to apply, implement, and document compliance with these standards
  • Excellent PC skills, especially in the use of Microsoft Excel and Access. Prior exposure to relational database query tools
  • Experience with Oracle 11i Financials Software and ability to functionally close the books on a monthly basis is a must
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail a must
