Accounting Analyst, $50-70K, Bala Cynwyd, PA

I am looking for an Accounting or Finance background, and someone who has INTEREST in working on valuating business due to litigation or due to personal situations (divorce, etc…).  They are pretty open to backgrounds in the accounting/finance area, but the candidate should be well-organized, and have good written and verbal communication skills, as well as good Excel skills…public accounting experience would be a plus, as well as understanding debits and credits, this is NOT an M&A position, so there really is no overnight travel.

The Client is a small (20+ people) boutique consulting firm with its main office in Bala Cynwyd and satellite offices in Morristown NJ and New York.  They provide business valuation, forensic accounting, and litigation support services.  Usually their cases involve some type of litigation.  A lot of them involve clients who are getting divorced who need a business appraised, or a marital balance sheet/lifestyle analysis prepared, etc.

From my client:

Most people here are either MBA’s or CPA’s.   That’s not a requirement but definitely helps.  We work in teams of 2 or more on most cases.  There’s a little travel but mostly day trips to Northern NJ, Manhattan, etc. and a little overnight travel, usually just a couple short trips a year.  Most of the work is done in the office not at the client.  The analysts take direction from senior staff (MD’s and Directors) in various phases of the assignment – managing discovery/gathering documents, taking notes at client interviews, doing industry research, analyzing public companies and M&A activity in the industry of the subject co., etc.  The main things we need in an analyst are good organizational skills, an ability to juggle (we work on several clients at a time), good oral and written communication skills, good knowledge of excel, and strong accounting and/or finance skills.  We’re flexible on the experience level of whomever we hire.  I’d say 1-6 years of out college is probably reasonable but we’re flexible.

Our benefits are pretty good (3 weeks vacation, bonus, profit sharing contribution, and we pay 100% of the medical premium for a single person who wants Keystone HMO. We also pay ½ the additional cost for family members or to get the PPO to a maximum company contribution of $7000/year.  Our benefits consultants tell us this is very generous.)

We generally request writing samples be brought to the in person interview because writing is one of the big parts of the job (our reports can get pretty lengthy and we do lots of memos and letters.)

Please let me know…
