POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the US/Canadian delegation accounting function and maintaining the accounting records for nine legal entities. Ensure accuracy, timeliness and integrity of the delegation's financial statements and management reports. Also responsible for preparing, budgeting and reporting on the delegation and shared service budgets. Direct and mentor a staff of four, managing day-to-day accounting operations while improving the delegation accounting procedures and departmental internal controls. Key liaison with business units coordinating and communicating with various US/Canadian financial personnel to ensure that intercompany charges and allocations are understood and accounted for. Administrator of the delegations Gelco Expenselink travel and entertainment system and JP Morgan Chase Procurement card program. Work very closely with delegation management team with opportunity to be involved in special projects from time to time, such as accounting for acquisitions and divestitures.
Responsible for analysis of account balances in the tens of millions of dollars.
Responsible for compiling, consolidating, reporting and allocating the delegation and shared service budgets totaling nearly $70M.
Responsible for a staff whose payroll dollars are approximately $200,000+.
Responsible for account analysis of high dollar (tens of millions) and high profile accounts, including health insurance reserves, deferred compensation, pension and post employment reserves. The analysis is used by management to support the decision making process with respect to the adequacy of reserves.
This position requires significant interaction with the business units and managers of Delegation Departments
The Financial Reporting responsibilities are extensive. Frequent changes occur in this area as new accounting pronouncements are issued in the
PROBLEM SOLVING:
Account analyses and special projects typically require extensive research and superior problem solving skills. These decisions are typically governed by (1) SGC Accounting Policies; (2) US GAAP and (3) IFRS and CSG interpretation in Doctrine. Creativity is often required to design and implement a new policy for a new situation and develop policies and procedures to maintain data integrity and internal control.
KNOWLEDGE:
o BS. / B.A. in Accounting
o CPA preferred
o 5-7 years General Ledger experience preferred
o Supervisory experience preferred
o Experienced user of Microsoft office products,
o Familiarity with SAP R3 system, PeopleSoft payroll software, SIF/Carat
and Hyperion software is a plus
