Job Title: Financial Analyst
Department: Finance
Reports to: Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis
Job Summary
This highly visible position supports the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (MFPA) across a broad spectrum of activities, including systems implementation, financial and management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, performance measurement, strategic planning, and special projects.
Essential Job Functions
- Work within team-oriented environment
- Participate in the implementation of a new management reporting system (MRS)
- Maintain schedules and allocations within the new MRS
- Coordinate the quarterly time reporting and resource allocation process
- Assist department managers in completing annual budgets and business plans
- Support the Firm’s strategic planning process
- Perform variance analysis and monitor internal financial performance
- Provide financial support and oversight of the Firm’s technology initiatives
- Create income statements and forecasts for the Firm’s products and sales channels
- Support the Firm’s financial reporting process
- Prepare ad hoc analysis and complete special projects
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Support of financial and internal audit requirements
- Other duties as assigned by MFPA
Job Specifications and Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in finance or accounting
- 2 – 5 years of corporate finance or accounting experience
- Financial services background preferred, but not required
- Solid understanding of basic financial principles relating to project management (e.g. cash flow, expense capitalization, net present value)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
- Ability to identify and resolve problems
- Ability to work independently
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Superior financial modeling skills
- Basic knowledge of statistics (regression, trend analysis)
